Why work with a TEPA-certified professional?

Utilizing a TEPA-certified energy professional ensures that you are working with a company dedicated to providing quality and ethical service…not simply an agent to any one individual energy provider. Our members have a demonstrated acumen with regard to energy structuring and purchasing that allows you to focus on your business. Each TEPA applicant undergoes a substantial application process as well as commits to continued education in the energy field. By combining this with a best-in-class network of other professionals, you are guaranteed that your energy purchases are in the hands of an expert.

What should I expect from a TEPA-certified professional?

All TEPA members provide energy procurement bids from multiple suppliers in the market. These offers are transparent to you the customer and provide a truly independent view of the marketplace. Included in these offers will be an apples-to-apples comparison of the different energy providers vying for your business, the savings or value proposition associated with each individual bid as well as a complete understanding of the differences between supplier contracts.

By working with numerous clients on a daily basis, each TEPA member will have a solid knowledge both of the marketplace as well as each individual energy provider you are considering. This approach allows you to save time when procuring your energy and clarifies all your options with regards to product, price, term and billing optionality.

How should the process work?

Our members specialize in providing market knowledge to help you make the best energy procurement choice for your company. Although styles vary among consultants, you will generally be asked to sign a Letter of Authorization (LOA) so that a consultant can begin pricing your energy load with suppliers. This document obligates you to nothing more than allowing the consultant to receive usage from the regulated wires company that supports your load. In no instance will the consultant be able to sign a contract on your behalf or include any exclusivity language on the LOA.

Once your usage data is received by the consultant, it will then be submitted to multiple energy providers for pricing. All terms and fees will be matched up evenly across the market of suppliers created and will allow you to understand the differences beyond simply price. These differences include products, days to pay your bill, consumption allocation, meter fees, wholesale charges and many more items that can make the decision difficult for an uninformed purchaser.

Lastly, once a supplier is selected and a contract signed, our members will make sure that your contract is managed properly by the chosen energy provider. This means making sure that you are being billed properly, are receiving all the appropriate charges and generally holding the provider to the contract to which you both have agreed.
